According to Fire Chief David Bennett, John Callaghan has met every challenge that Bennett has issued.

“John’s done an excellent job for us since he’s been here,” Bennett said.

With his promotion, Callaghan’s salary will increase from $23,961 to $27,196. He’s been a firefighter with the Tonganoxie Fire Department since June 2002.

He and Bennett are the only paid employees in the department, which has 25 volunteers.
