Obituary: Alan R. Kirkwood

Services for Alan R. Kirkwood, 48, Grain Valley, Mo., were Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Blue Springs Church of the Nazarene, Blue Springs, Mo.

Mr. Kirkwood died last Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 21, 1955, in Independence, Mo., the son of Richard R. and Myrtle (Smith) Kirkwood.

He was a Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He had worked for more than 27 years at Kansas City Power and Light. He was a member of IBEW local 412 as well as the Nazarene Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia, of the home; a stepson, Jeffery T. Dennis, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Ginger Marie Dennis, Tonganoxie; and his mother; Myrtle Kirkwood of Independence, Mo.

A sister, Beverly Jean Kirkwood, died earlier.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo., 64114 or Countryside Church of the Nazarene, Columbus, Mo.
