Obituary: Erma Jean Irene Johnson

Services for Erma Jean Irene Johnson, 78, formerly of Jarbalo, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, with the Rev. Bud Jones officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Johnson, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. She was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Edward David and Edythe Mae Smith. On Jan. 1, 1943, she married Henry J. Johnson. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and for a brief time worked at Tonganoxie Grade School as a cook. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Jarbalo and was a 30-year member of the Stranger Valley Grange No. 11, and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post No. 23.

Survivors include four sons, James Henry Johnson, Honolulu, Eugene “Gene” Edward Johnson, Port Orchard, Wash., Gary Dean Johnson and Dale Lynn Johnson, both of Leavenworth; two daughters, Dolores Jean “D.J.” Burns, Tonganoxie, and Wanda Lorraine Johnson, Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Cleo Mae Infernos, Leavenworth; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation, in care of the funeral chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth, 66048.

Friends may call on the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
