Obituary: Wilma Mae Haines
Services for Wilma Mae Haines, 72, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, at the Christian Church in Tonganoxie with the Rev. Weldon Jolly officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Mrs. Haines died, Sunday, March 28, 2004, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Tonganoxie, the daughter of Alex and Henrietta (Lane) Jackson.
She attended Smith Grade School and was a 1950 graduate of Tonganoxie High School. She worked at St. Margaret Hospital, Kansas City, Kan., St. John Hospital, Leavenworth, and for seven years at Tonganoxie High School.
Mrs. Haines was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church and the Historical Society, both of Tonganoxie. She married Charles W. Haines on Nov. 7, 1957, in Leavenworth. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Charles H. Haines and Steven W. Haines, both of Lawrence, and Bryan D. Haines, Tonganoxie; three daughters, Charlene A. Haines, Lawrence, Wilma Dian Barfield, Tonganoxie, and Viola Marie Stevens, Lawrence; two brothers, Vernon Jackson, Kansas City, Kan., and Delmar Jackson, Lawrence; a sister, Corine Robison, Topeka; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.
