Rambunctious Imac gymnasium can’t stop THS from KVL sweep

By Shawn Linenberger - | Oct 6, 2004

Tonganoxie entered its Sept. 28 triangular at the hostile Immaculata gymnasium with a one-match losing streak.

The Chieftains left Leavenworth with a two-match winning streak.

Tonganoxie again got past Basehor-Linwood with a 2-0 win (25-13, 25-12), but also faced the hometown Raiders, who defeated perennial power Lansing the week before.

THS won in two games, but they were nail-biters. The Chieftains prevailed 25-23, 25-22.

“We’ll always take a win at Imac,” THS co-coach Brandon Parker said. “Imac’s a tough place to play.

“Their students were yelling at us.”

The victories kept Tonganoxie unbeaten in Kaw Valley League play at 5-0. The Chieftains now are 16-2 overall.
