Sparks finishes fall ball in Ottawa
Derek Sparks is getting plenty of baseball in the fall.
Now a freshman at Ottawa University, the former Tonganoxie shortstop is finishing up the customary collegiate fall baseball workouts.
“It’s going pretty well,” Sparks said.
Days before the fall semester started, Sparks was without a college. The spring THS graduate had been looking at different colleges where he could play baseball, but hadn’t settled on one.
That changed in August when he signed wth Ottawa.
Fall ball has kept Sparks busy for about a month-and-a-half, but it ended this month.
In his first year at OU, Sparks has been working out at both shortstop and third base.
