¢ For more information about the health fair, contact the Linwood Community Library at (913) 723-3686 Nicole Oelschlaeger.

Nicole Oelschlaeger, who works at the library, said the health fair would have plenty of booths for its inaugural fair.

“I believe the friends of the library decided it would be a good thing for our community,” Oelschlaeger said. “They wanted people to see what’s available for them.”

Lawrence Memorial Hospital will have cholesterol ratio screenings from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., for a fee.

The Linwood Lion’s Club will have vision-care information and will be taking donations of old frames. Parents as Teachers will have a free child-development program, while Children’s Mercy Hospital is sponsoring car-seat checks and safety information. A dentist will be on hand, as will an elementary school nurse from the Basehor-Linwood school district. The nurse will offer kindergarten roundup hearing checks, along with vaccination information.

In addition, Denise Sullivan with K-State Research and Extension in Leavenworth County, will have a booth on nutrition and health lifestyles.
