Don Haussler, who lives in Kansas City, tutors students, as well as helps students and adults prepare for tests such as the ACT, SAT, GRE and GED.
His work includes testing to individualize the tutoring.

“We’re not only just going to tutor Johnny or Mary when they come in, but we will also do pre-testing to find out what level they’re at,” Haussler said.

Haussler and his wife, Marie, are doing business at 22517 139th St. Their office is in the ReMax All American building on Kansas Highway 7 between Basehor and Lansing.

Haussler said he has also taught in the Kansas City, Kan., schools, at Kansas City Kansas Community College, the University of Wisconsin and Avila University.

“I’d always wanted to be self-employed,” Haussler said. “I think this would be another way to extend my teaching career to help students at a little different angle than in the classroom.”

Haussler, a former math and physics teacher, plans to tutor junior high, high school and college students in math and physics courses.

He also will offer seminars, both to students and for businesses, on time-management skills, note taking, test taking, test anxiety, and on ways to improve memory.

The business is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, at from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
