Obituary: Richard Dennis Thomas

Services for Richard Dennis Thomas, 58, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Junior Dennis and Mary Louise (White) Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was married June 2, 1969, in Nowata, Okla., to Yolanda Norman.

He was co-owner, founder and director of KCI, Incorporated, Kansas City, Mo. He was also a former member of Millwright Union Local 1529, former field superintendent at Midwest Conveyor and Automatic Systems, awarded top 100 fastest-growing companies of Kansas City in July 1997, and was nominated and a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneurs of the year 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Yolanda, of the home; his mother, Mary Thomas, Tonganoxie; a son, Bryan Thomas, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Nichole Salmon and Tana Thomas, both of Tonganoxie; a brother, Dub Helms, Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Susan Walbridge, Tonganoxie; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O. Box 993 Tonganoxie, 66086.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.
