Lansing girls, Atchison boys advance in Tonganoxie Invitational
The opening night of the 46th annual Tonganoxie Invitational was filled with a few surprises Monday in Tonganoxie.
The Atchison boys, the No. 2 team in Class 4A, squeaked past Silver Lake in the second game of the day, while the Silver Lake girls prevailed against Metro Academy in the first game of the tournament.
In the evening games, the Lansing girls breezed past Pleasant Ridge, 64-49, despite poor free-throw shooting. LHS junior Amanda Radovich led the Lions with 19 points.
In the final game of the day, Pleasant Ridge upset the Lansing boys, 58-53. LHS junior Cody Mohan scored a career-high 21 in the losing effort.
Winners from Monday’s games will play Friday in semifinal games, while losing teams will head to the consolation bracket on Thursday.
