Tonganoxie boys outlast Eudora, 47-40

By Staff | Jan 21, 2005

Tonganoxie finally took care of Eudora.

After losing to EHS in the Tonganoxie Invitational a couple years ago and to the Cardinals in a Class 4A substate game last year, Tonganoxie came out on the winning end against Eudora at this year’s tournament.

The two teams played in a tight game throughout the contest, but key free throws down the stretch helped Tonganoxie get past Eudora, 47-40. The Chieftains also snapped a five-game losing streak in the process and improved to 3-7 on the year.

Sam Mitchell led the Chieftains in scoring with 17, while Michael Morris added 11. Daniel Workman nearly was in double figures as the senior forward scored nine.

Tonganoxie now will play arch-rival Lansing at 11:30 p.m. Saturday for fifth place in this year’s Tonganoxie Invitational. Lansing defeated Silver Lake, 56-41, and snapped its own four-game losing streak.
