Obituary: Jack A. Williams Sr.

Services for Jack A. Williams Sr., 67, Basehor, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Elm Grove Baptist Church, 158th Street and Kansas Highway 32, Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor.

Mr. Williams died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was born June 28, 1937, in Mildred, Kan., the son of John L. and Gladys M. (Robb) Williams.

He was the owner of Star Realty and Williams Insurance Co., Basehor. He had been a licensed insurance agent for 30 years and Realtor for 15 years.

He had worked for Owens-Corning Corp. and Central Air Charter, both of Kansas City, Kan.

Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1959. He was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church, Bonner Springs, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he was a founder and board member of the Basehor Chamber of Commerce.

He loved aviation and was a jet engine mechanic and private pilot with a commercial rating. He was a former member of Kiwanis International and the library board, both of Basehor, and was a member of the 24-40 Highway Committee.

On Feb. 27, 1960, he married Virginia Tinker in Quanah, Texas. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Jack “J.R.” Williams Jr. and Timothy W. Williams, both of Basehor; a daughter, Sabrina Williams, Shawnee; and 10 grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Elm Grove Baptist Church building fund, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O. Box 993, Tonganoxie 66086.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, March 2, 2005, at the funeral home.
