THS girls team slides past Perry-Lecompton

By Shawn Linenberger - | Mar 2, 2005

Records meant little in the first half last week when the Tonganoxie and Perry-Lecompton girls basketball teams met in Perry.

Tonganoxie, which is the top seed in the Basehor-Linwood regional, hadn’t lost since December.

Perry-Lecompton, on the other hand, had just five wins coming into the season.

The underdog Kaws gave the Chieftains fits in the first half. THS trailed by just two after the first quarter and held a 27-21 halftime lead.

In the second half, though, Tonganoxie settled down, moved the ball inside and raced to a 57-39 victory.

The Chieftains improved to 17-2 on the season, while Perry-Lecompton dropped to 5-14.

Tonganoxie spread the wealth, scoring four players in double-figures. Addie Heim again led Tonganoxie with 15, while Heather Deaver chipped in 11. Ali Pistora and Madison Weller each had 10 in the victory.
