THS Chieftains land three for all-league
Tonganoxie had three selections in this year’s all-Kaw Valley League girls basketball team.
Senior Addie Heim and sophomore Ali Pistora both were named first-team all-KVL by league coaches. Heim also was named all-state honorable mention in 4A by the Topeka Capital-Journal. The newspaper also named Pistora second team all-4A.
The Chieftains’ third all-league selection was Madison Weller. The senior was named honorable mention on this year’s all-KVL squad.
THS was the only Kaw Valley League squad to reach a state tournament. The Chieftains finished the season at 22-4 and placed fourth in 4A at the state tournament in Salina.
Tonganoxie also won its second-straight league basketball title. This season, the Chieftains also were undefeated in league play under third-year coach Randy Kraft.
The girls will have their team banquet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Bryan Kemp residence south of Tonganoxie.
All-Kaw Valley League boys selections also were announced recently, but the Chieftain boys did not have any selections on this year’s postseason team.
