Tonganoxie overall had 20 athletes earn all-Kaw Valley League distinction among four sports.

The Tonganoxie football team, which again this year finished 9-2, had 10 players earn all-league honors. Of those 10 athletes, four earned first-team honors — Aaron Adcox, Jeff Hughes, Kent Fleming and Brandon Willis.

On Tonganoxie’s cross country teams, which both finished second at the KVL meet, six runners earned medals at the league meet. The top 20 runners at the league meet receive medals. The top 10 are named to the first team, while the second 10 earn second-team honors. Matt Brock, Colt Coffin and Colin Perkins were first-team finishers on the boys team, while Christy Weller and Jennifer Wagner were first-team selections for the girls team.

The Chieftain volleyball team completed its season with a 16-18 record and reached the Class 4A substate finals before losing to Eudora.

Ali Pistora and Sami Franiuk were Tonganoxie’s all-league volleyball selections.

And in soccer, the Chieftains finished the season at 5-12.

Like volleyball, the soccer team had two players named to the all-league squad. Derek O’Brien was a second-team selection, while Micah Titterington earned honorable mention honors.

AARON ADCOX

Year in school: Senior

Selection this fall: First-team defense as a middle linebacker; first-team offense as a left tackle.

Previous honors: All-league honorable mention offense as a left tackle in 2004.

Plans after high school: Play collegiate football. Adcox has a list of schools where he’s looking to play: Butler County, Garden City and Coffeyville community colleges, Washburn, Pittsburg State, Missouri Western, Missouri Southern and Mid-America Nazarene.

MATT BROCK
