Tonganoxie defeated Basehor-Linwood, 24-3, Friday in Basehor and improved to 5-1 overall and 5-1 in the Kaw Valley League.

The Chieftains picked up their final win of the season before districts start next Friday against Bonner Springs with the league victory against the Bobcats, who fell to 2-4.

Tonganoxie won its fifth consecutive after dropping the season opener at Lansing.

In McLouth, football also is the talk of the town.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 with a 26-6 homecoming victory against Troy, which fell to 3-3 with the loss.

McLouth will open district play next Friday against Immaculata in Leavenworth.
