McLouth Happenings

Thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who deliver Meals on Wheels around McLouth. We are blessed to have the many volunteers whore committed tour local programnd keep it running smoothly.

Amanda Cain is McLouth High School’s Student of the Month for November. Amanda, a senior, is the daughter of Ivan and Shirley Cain. She plans to attend Kansas University and major in physical therapy. This award, sponsored by the McLouth Kiwanis, honors students who exhibit outstanding citizenship and scholarship.

The United Methodist Women will host their annual Christmas Tea on at 2 p.m. Friday.

McLouth’s Parent Teacher Organization will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school home economics room. Free baby-sitting will be provided.

A Community Scrapbooking Fellowship will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the basement of McLouth First Baptist Church. Beginners and seasoned scrapbookers are welcome. Bring photos and share ideas. Childcare is available. Regular meetings are the second Tuesday and the last Thursday evenings of every month. For more information, call Sheryl Stemmons at (785) 840-4239.

Countryside Baptist Church members will go Christmas caroling at 6 p.m. next Wednesday at Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester.

Senior citizens are invited to a Christmas luncheon sponsored by the McLouth High School Honor Society at noon Dec. 14 in the high school library. Call (913) 796-6122 if you plan to attend.

The McLouth music department will feature two evenings of entertainment. The McLouth School Winter Choir Concert will feature students in sixth through 12th grades at 7 p.m. Dec. 14. The Band Concert, featuring students in sixth through 12th grades, will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the Purple Gym.

Celebrate Recovery, a confidential, Christ-centered program helping those recovering from drugs, alcohol, gambling, eating disorders, meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays in the basement of McLouth Church of the Nazarene. Open to everyone. For more information, call (913) 796-6935.

Sign up now: Starting Jan. 3, the community is welcome to participate in a Fitness Walking Program from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday in the McLouth High School Purple Gym. There is no fee. Park in northwest lot and enter in the doors by the cafeteria. No street shoes are allowed in gym floor. For information and to sign up, contact Linda Angle, (913) 796-6099.
