Handful of wrestlers finish undefeated

By Shawn Linenberger - | Jan 4, 2006

It was a successful season for the Tonganoxie Junior High wrestling team.

For this year’s Warriors, four grapplers finished the season undefeated. Zach Langston (15-0), Jeremy Maus (12-0), Zach Kaigain (12-0) and Tyler McCutchen (10-0) all completed the season without blemishes on their individual records.

At the team’s final tournament, Dec. 3 at Clark in Bonner Springs, the Warriors placed third. Linwood placed first and Shawnee Heights second.

The squad was scheduled to wrestle again Dec. 7 at Pembroke Hill in Kansas City, Mo., but that meet was canceled and not rescheduled.

At that tournament, Langston, Maus, Kaigain and McCutchen all finished with first-place finishes. Tanner Newman placed second at the meet, while Justin Crotty, Tyler Hand, D.J. Lindsay and Austin Holloway had third-place finishes. Jacob Rains, Tucker Hollingsworth and Dylan Pendleton recorded fourth-place finishes.

Overall, the Warrior wrestlers posted a 197-151 record with 178 pins.
