Tough fourth quarter dooms Tonganoxie boys

By Shawn Linenberger - | Jan 19, 2006

Tonganoxie’s first victory will have to wait at least two more days.

The Chieftains appeared destined to defeat Immaculata on Thursday in consolation play of the Tonganoxie Invitational Tournament. Tonganoxie never trailed through three quarters.

It was that blasted fourth, though, that spelled doom for the Chieftains.

Immaculata outscored THS, 20-6, in the final stanza and pulled away for a 54-42 victory. THS dropped to 0-11, while the Raiders improved to 5-4.

The Tonganoxie girls will be in action Friday in their semifinal game against Jeff West. The Chieftains are 11-0. They’ll play at 6 p.m. Friday.
