T-Bones open 2nd half with ‘W’
Kansas City didn’t clinch the Northern League East Division pennant for the first half of the season, but the T-Bones could make a run for the second half title.
The T-Bones finished the first half with a 22-26 record, nine games behind first-place Schaumburg, Ill., in the East Division. Kansas City placed third in the East Division, as Gary, Ind., finished second with a 24-24 record.
The first half ended Sunday, but Kansas City started in the right direction with a 5-2 win against Edmonton on Monday in Kansas City, Kan.
Kansas City played Edmonton again Tuesday and will finish the three-game set at 11:05 a.m. today against the Cracker-Cats.
For the second half, the teams start again with no wins and no losses. If the T-Bones finish the second half in first place, they will qualify for the postseason.
After the series with Edmonton, the T-Bones travel to Schaumburg to take on the Flyers for another three-game set beginning Friday.
On Tuesday, Kansas City will host the Northern League All-Star Game, which will be played Tuesday at the T-Bones home field, CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The T-Bones will be back in action beginning July 20 with a four-game home series against the Calgary Vipers. That homestand will conclude with a three-game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, July 24-26.
