Return trip to Salina put on hold
Tonganoxie junior Ali Pistora’s bucket with 6.7 seconds left tied the game at 52 as Tonganoxie hoped to force overtime Friday in the Class 4A substate championship at Sumner Academy in Kansas City, Kan.
But Sumner standout Marisah Henderson, with 0.3 of a second left on the clock, was fouled.
She went to the line and made her first free throw. She missed the second and a Tonganoxie player rebounded, but a full-court desperation shot fell short and Sumner advanced to the state tournament in Salina with a 53-52 win.
Tonganoxie ended its season at 21-2.
