Tonganoxie, McLouth both victorious
Tonganoxie trailed Bishop Ward by four points late in the first half Friday, but the Chieftain football team scored 21 unanswered points on its way to a 34-17 victory against the Cyclones.
The win moved THS to 2-0 on the season. The Chieftains now will face Bonner Springs at 7 p.m. Friday in Bonner Springs.
McLouth, meanwhile, bounced back from a season-opening loss to Troy last week and dropped Doniphan West, 27-20, thanks in large part to a 20-point second quarter. McLouth scored all its points in the first half and held off the Mustangs in the second half. MHS (1-1) will play its first home game Friday against Wathena. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
