Gas leak at Fourth Street Cafe

By Staff | Jun 10, 2007

Approximately 9:11 p.m. Saturday, a Tonganoxie police officer caught the unmistakable smell gas coming from the Fourth Street Cafe.

The Tonganoxie Fire Department responded to the gas leak and cordoned off the area while waiting for the KPL Gas Service to shut off the gas.

Once the gas was off, KPL Gas Service employees entered the restaurant to determine the source of the leak.

Police and fire officials cleared the scene at 10:44 p.m.

The gas company will be in town on Monday to repair any faulty equipment at the restaurant.

The restaurant will remain closed until repairs can be made.
