Teenager critically injured in accident
A 19-year-old Leavenworth man, injured Friday when his motorcycle collided with a car in a turning lane east of Tonganoxie, was listed in critical condition Tuesday, a University of Kansas Hospital official said.
About 8:05 p.m. Friday, Thomas Frick was riding his motorcycle west on U.S. Highway 24-40 near 198th Street on the inside lane of the four-lane highway. Frick’s 2006 Harley-Davidson then struck a 2002 Toyota Solara, which was in the turning lane facing west. Jacquelyn Middleton, 43, Leawood, was driving the Solara, which carried a passenger, 12-year-old Jessica Zidek of Leawood. Both were taken to KU Hospital but were no longer listed as patients Tuesday.
Middleton and Zidek were wearing seatbelts, Kansas Highway Patrol reports said.
Frick was wearing eye protection, but no helmet, KHP reports said.
