Kaw Valley League Football Report: Week Seven
The Kaw Valley League’s bid to replicate or improve upon last year’s district performance that saw six KVL clubs advance to the state playoffs got off to a good start on Friday.
In Class 5A, Lansing and Mill Valley both manhandled their opponents, and Turner upset Sumner Academy. Only Bonner Springs, which was knocked off by Highland Park, suffered a district loss in 5A.
Meanwhile, the 4A squads also got off to a good start. None were more dominant than Basehor-Linwood which stomped league rival Tonganoxie, 38-15. Other 4A winners were Bishop Ward and Perry-Lecompton.
Mill Valley and Lansing, with combined records of 13-1, will play on Oct. 31 in a game that will decide who wins the KVL title. The game has been picked up by Metro Sports as the TV station’s Game of the Week.
