Singers hit right notes at event
The Chieftain Singers men’s ensemble and five vocal soloists are heading to the Kansas State High School Activities Association State Music Festival.
Tonganoxie High School’s vocal music department competed Saturday in the KSHSAA Regional Musical Festival at Baker University in Baldwin City. As a
result, 18 students are headed to state Saturday, April 25 in Andover.
To advance to state, musicians had to receive a “I” rating at regionals.
Members of the state-bound men’s ensemble are: Seth Bohanon, Andrew Borgelt, Ryan Brammer, Elliott Brest, Jeremy Carlisle, Jacob Caruthers, Nathan Dowell, Ben Field, Bryson Hewins, Aaron McIntyre, Daniel Monahan, Patrick Monahan, Dominic Pitts, Marcus Titterington, Matthew Titterington and Dalton Torneden.
Soloists receiving “I” ratings also headed to state are: Seth Bohanon, Ryan Brammer, Maggie Derzinski, Aaron McIntyre and Megan Schenk.
Ensembles earning a “II” rating were: women’s ensemble, Alisha Barnes, Katie Caruthers, Taylor Clark,
Maggie Derzinski, Alexis Faherty, Lacie Falk, Christa Firuccia, Bradi Hilker, Madison Hunter, Beth Jobst, Bobbi Lindsay, Caila McPherson, Megan Schenk, Erin Sours, Rachel Sparks, Ashley Stockman, Amanda Tune and
Kimmy Walters; mixed octet, Alisha Barnes, Seth Bohanon, Andrew Borgelt, Ryan Brammer, Maggie Derzinski, Alexis Faherty, Ben Field and Erin Sours; and triple quartet, Elliott Brest, Taylor Clark, Bryson Hewins, Madison Hunter, Beth Jobst, Bobbi Lindsay, Aaron McIntyre, Patrick Monahan, Megan Schenk, Rachel Sparks, Marcus Titterington and Matthew Titterington.
THS vocal soloists also earned “II” ratings, as judges gave that rating to Elliott Brest, Taylor Clark, Nathan Dowell, Lacie Falk, Bradi Hilker, Madison Hunter, Bobbi Lindsay, Patrick Monahan and Matthew Titterington.
Soloists earning a “III” rating were Alisha Barnes, Andrew Borgelt, Amanda Herbert, Elizabeth Tomlinson and Dalton Torneden.
