Leavenworth County Fair schedule, Day 1

The 83rd annual Leavenworth County Fair kicks off Tuesday.

Several classes will be judged in events ranging from poultry to ceramics.

The fair parade will start at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Tonganoxie, while the draft horse pull begins at 8 p.m. in the horse arena.

Here is a list of Tuesday’s events at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds in Tonganoxie.

Tuesday, Aug. 11

• 8 a.m.-9 a.m.

4-H/FFA and open goat entries accepted/weighed in (livestock barns)

• 8 a.m.-noon

4-H clothing entries accepted (Tonganoxie 4-H building)

4-H project displays set up (green metal building, west side)

4-H booth/banner entries accepted (green metal building, west side)

4-H/FFA and open poultry entries accepted (poultry barn)

Open class home economics entries accepted

• 8 a.m.-9 a.m.

Open class home economics entries accepted

• 9 a.m.

4-H electric consultation judging (green metal building)

11 a.m.

4-H bucket calf entries accepted/weighed in (livestock barns)

• 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

4-H/FFA and open beef entries accepted/weighed in (livestock barns)

• 9 a.m.-noon

4-H photography entries checked in (Tonganoxie 4-H building)

• 10 a.m.

Open class home economics judging and open class ceramics judging

• Noon

Opening ceremony colors presented at flag pole by Tonganoxie VFW Post 9271 and Tonganoxie High School Band.

• 1 p.m.

4-H entomology, forestry consultation and geology consultation (rabbit barn)

• 1 p.m.

4-H photography consultation and home environment judging (Tonganoxie 4-H building)

• 1-4 p.m.

4-H/FFA and open vegetable and plant science entries accepted (green metal building, east side)

• 1-5:30 p.m.

4-H/FFA and open class poultry entries accepted (poultry barns)

• 2 p.m.

4-H booths/banners and project display judging (green metal building, west side)

• 5 p.m.

4-H/FFA and open class rabbit entries accepted

• 6 p.m.

Fair photo contest entries due (administration building)

4-H/FFA and open swine show and showmanship judging (show arena)

• 6-10 p.m.

Discount night at the carnival. All carnival rides $2 each.

• 6:30 p.m.
