A petition against Sunday liquor sales is valid, Leavenworth County Clerk Janet Klasinski said.

This afternoon, the clerk’s office finished validating the 101 petitioners needed to send ordinance #1279 back to the Tonganoxie City Council.

Mike Yanez, city administrator, wrote in an e-mail the item will be brought up on the Aug. 24 council meeting and that a special election may cost up to $3,500.

Klasinski said the clerk’s office would be looking at an Oct. 7 election.
