Jarbalo Jottings
The Jarbalo United Methodist Women met Wednesday, July 8, at the Fellowship Hall. Frances Jeannin, Marilyn Oxley, Rosie Oelschlaeger and Gladys Steffen attended and finalized plans for serving cake and ice cream for the celebration of July birthdays at the Golden Living Center in Lansing. The celebration will be held July 28. Frances Jeannin gave the lesson and also served refreshments provided by Faye Cleavenger, who was out of town visiting relatives.
David and Jane Turner attended the monthly meeting of the Santa Fe Trail Leather Artists’ Guild on Saturday in Topeka. On Saturday evening they visited with Tim and Kelly Kouns of Tonganoxie.
My apologies to the following for leaving them out of the list of family and friends attending the Fourth of July celebration at the home of Thamar Barnett. David, Tracey and Sydney Turner of McLouth were among the crowd, as were Gene and Glenda Heskett of Tonganoxie. Also, Marilyn Wooten of Kansas City was there with her daughter Lucy, who is the bride-elect of my grandson, Derek Barnett. Last week’s column accidentally named Marilyn by another name.
Bobbi Immel visited Thamar Barnett on Saturday morning. Others visiting with Thamar on Saturday were Paul, Lynn, Michelle and Isaac Heskett of Moran and Tammy and Rhiannon Mooberry of Leavenworth.
On Sunday, Gail Fitzwater of Shawnee and Jess Barnett of Shawnee visited with Thamar. Frances Jeannin, Jane and David Turner and Kathy Stimac all visited on Sunday.
A special thank you to all friends and family who have made it a point to stop by to see how I am doing. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
