Residents in the area of the 1300 block of Acorn Street notified police this morning of an explosion that occurred between 8 and 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Members of the Eudora Police Department found the remnants of an explosive device in the mailbox of a residence at the location. The occupants were not present at the time of the explosion.

A mail carrier found a second detonated bomb in a mailbox near the corner of Winchester Road and 10th Street just beyond the Eudora city limits.

On Thursday afternoon, the Olathe bomb squad detonated a bottle filled with the same substance after it was found in a mailbox at a home on the corner of 14th and Fir streets.

The residents of the house were not home during the incident.

Eudora Police Chief Greg Dahlem met with officials from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service who have offered to help with the ongoing investigation.

Dahlem said he believed the three incidents are connected.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the explosives.
