It took all five sets but the Tonganoxie High volleyball team got back on track with a home victory over Topeka on Thursday night.
The Chieftains were still stinging from a Tuesday loss at Basehor-Linwood when the dual started. However, following a loss in the first game, they won three of the next four to defeat Topeka and get back to .500 for the season.
THS (10-10) lost the opening set, 25-19, before earning wins of 25-15 and 25-17. A 25-15 setback in the fourth set made a fifth one necessary, and Tonganoxie took care of business, winning 25-18 to seal the victory.
The clincher featured kills from Maggie Franiuk, Molly O’Hagan, Brooklyn Kerbaugh, Jenny Whitledge, Abby Eisman and Danielle Miller, whose spike ended the night.
Shyanne Gergick and Megan Hummelgaard came up with some big digs in the win.
