Tonganoxie youth in critical condition at local hospital
A 2-year-old Tonganoxie girl is in critical condition at an area hospital after a gate fell on her in rural Tonganoxie.
According to Leavenworth County Sheriff reports, Brooklyn Sickman was injured about 5 p.m. Saturday in the 16900 block of 206th Street in rural Tonganoxie.
Reports said her mother, Teresa Sickman, was putting shoes on Brooklyn and herself and getting ready to leave the residence they were visiting when Brooklyn went outside to get her brothers, who were playing near horse stables. The owner of the property, Keith Hinson, said he and friend Tye Barton were outside when they heard a loud noise, reports said. Hinson and Barton lifted the gate off Brooklyn and found her unconscious, reports said.
Brooklyn was taken by air ambulance to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., where she was in critical condition late Wednesday afternoon, a hospital official said.
