Bingo night scheduled to raise money for new library sign
Friends of the Linwood Library will have a family bingo night from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Linwood Community Center, 302 Main St.
Suggested donation is $10 per card and there will be prizes for regular and blackout bingo. Pizza, popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase, as proceeds will go toward the new library. Money is planned for a new sign at the new library, which will be on the east end of Linwood on Kansas Highway 32 in the former New Linwood Café.
“We haven’t tried anything like this before,” said Arlene Pritchard, a Friend of the Linwood Library member. “It’s going to be a new venture. And hopefully we can get the word out.”
Some of the prizes are tickets to a Kansas City T-Bones game, a Kansas University floor lamp, a free haircut in Lawrence and more.
Pritchard said she’s eager for the library to move into its larger digs.
“Oh, it will be great,” she said. “I’ll be happy to have room for all my genealogy books I’ve had in my home and some newspaper articles.”
