Annual McLouth Threshing Bee returns Friday

Vintage farm machines will again be on display this weekend at the 57th annual McLouth Threshing Bee.
In 1953, the first McLouth Threshing Bee took place in the western Jefferson County community.
Friday, the tradition continues for yet another year.
This year’s threshing bee will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the McLouth Threshing Bee grounds, which is a few blocks south of Kansas Highway 16 in McLouth.
Here is a listing of events. Steam threshing will be conducted at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, while a saw mill will be operating throughout the event, as will a flea market and food vendors.
Friday
• An antique and classic tractor ride, which is the second annual benefit ride for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Jefferson County Historical Society, will start at 9 a.m. Friday. A parade of tractors will make its way from McLouth to Winchester and then Oskaloosa before returning to McLouth. For more information, contact Charlie Luse at (913) 774- 2759.
• An antique and classic tractor pull will start at 7 p.m. with tractors built in 1959 or later eligible for the competition.
• Live band and patio dance, featuring Backfire, will start at 8 p.m.
Saturday
• Drive-in car show and kid’s pedal tractor pull, 5 p.m.
• Parade of power, 1:30 p.m.
• Outlaw Hotrod Pullers Association mini rod tractor pull, 6:30 p.m.
• Immediately after the tractor pull, the band Hazzard County will perform.
Sunday
• Outlaw Hotrod Pullers Association mini rod tractor pull part 2, 2 p.m.
