Wildcat girls top Cards in fifth-place game 44-37

TONGANOXIE – De Soto High’s Katie Williams scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help lead the DHS girls to a 44-37 victory over Eudora in the fifth-place game Saturday at the Tonganoxie Invitational.
Eudora (4-7) led by one at the end of the first quarter, but De Soto (6-5) outscored Eudora 22-10 in the second quarter. The Cardinals trailed by 15 at the end of the third quarter, but rallied back as Katie Slavin scored seven straight points to open the fourth.
De Soto’s Shelbi Petty scored a game-high 15 points, and Eudora’s Evan Folks led the Cardinals with 12 points.
