Jarbalo Jottings
Jarbalo United Methodist Women met on July 14 at the church. Marilyn Oxley opened the meeting with a prayer. Four members answered roll call, reporting 24 care calls. The group is planning to go to Hickory Pointe Care and Rehab Center in Oskaloosa Friday to serve cake and ice cream, which they will provide for the monthly birthday party.
A pledge was made to give money to the Alpha Christian Children’s Home at Perry. Faye Cleavinger read a couple of articles, a poem titled “Cows Don’t Know It’s Christmas” and an article called “Small Pleasures of Life.” Faye also was hostess and served refreshments to Marilyn Oxley, Rosie Oelschlaeger and Thamar Barnett. The next meeting will be Aug. 11 at 2:30 p.m. with Peachez Joles as program leader and hostess.
The Jaunty Jarbalonians chapter of the Red Hat Society met Saturday at the Metropolitan Steakhouse in Leavenworth. Members Jane Turner, Lynn Paul and Thamar Barnett were there. Guests were Jill Eastridge, Susie Chmidling and Sydney Turner, who had spent Friday night with her grandparents, David and Jane Turner.
Sid and Karen Sheppard of west Topeka took Bid Sheppard and Kathy Powers to eat at Ten Penny Restaurant in Leavenworth Saturday.
Tim and Kelly Kouns were guests of David and Jane Turner Saturday evening.
Thamar Barnett was a luncheon guest of Jim and Harriet Smith of Lansing on July 13.
