There will be a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30 at Fall Creek Cemetery. Members of the Fall Creek Cemetery Corporation are reminded there will be a short meeting following the service to elect officers to the board.

Lightning struck a barn at the home of Fred and Jody Chenoweth early one morning this past week. The barn was more than a century old and was built by the old barn-raising method in which neighbors came to help build the pole barn.

Saturday was Mother’s Day for me. In total, 24 members of my family came and did some painting, washed windows, yard work and indoor work, including cleaning blinds, fans and light fixtures, polishing furniture and dusting. Work stopped at noon for a hot dog roast and picnic dinner and then work continued for several more hours. Thanks everyone. It was great.

Kathy Powers and Bid Sheppard had dinner with Syd and Karen Sheppard Sunday at their home in Topeka.

Frances Jeannin had lunch with Kenny and Wanda Jeannin on Sunday and then in the evening had dinner with Pat and Michelle Jeannin of Basehor.

Davy and Tracey Turner and Sydney visited David and Jane Turner on Mother’s Day.
