KC forward Kei Kamara scored two goals, but a Rajko Lekic header in the 83rd minute dropped Sporting Kansas City to the bottom of the Eastern Conference through five matches so far in the 2011 season.

New England received a goal from Marko Perovic in the 12th minute for a 1-0 lead, but KC tied the match two minutes later on Kamara’s first strike of the night.

Each team had a handful of opportunities the rest of the first half, but neither capitalized and the score was tied 1-1 at halftime.

After a slow start to the second half, the action heated up in the 68th minute when Teal Bunbury was brought down in the box by Kevin Alston. Sporting was awarded a penalty kick, and Kamara put it into the back of the net for a 2-1 lead.

The lead was short-lived, however, as New England tied the game moments later on a goal by Shalrie Joseph.

Matters only got worse for KC when, in the 75th minute, Collin — already on notice from receiving a first-half yellow card — picked up a second on a collision with New England goalkeeper Matt Reis on a freekick. Pushing and shoving broke out between both clubs, and Collin was awarded his second yellow card and forced to exit the game.

Eight minutes later, New England punished a shorthanded Kansas City squad by scoring the game-winner.
