TMS 8th-grade girls win league track titles

Tonganoxie Middle School’s eighth-grade girls track team won league titles in four events and finished fourth at its league meet on May 4 at Piper, in Kansas City, Kan.

The Warriors won individual league crowns in both track and field events. Jackie Whitledge won the 200-meter dash and the long jump, while Tressa Walker finished first in the 800-meter run and Demi Trimble had the best discus throw.

Whitledge also took third place in the 100-meter dash at the league meet. Tonganoxie had fourth-place finishes from Emily Williams in the 3,200-meter run and Trimble in the shot put, as well.

The TMS seventh-grade girls finished eighth in the team standings.

The top finisher among seventh-graders was Tristin Horton, who placed fourth in the long jump.
