Joshua T. Jones, 25, Tonganoxie, and Stephen M. Lane, 22, Nortonville, were injured in the accident, which happened roughly a mile south of Tonganoxie on U.S. Highway 24-40.

Lane was traveling north on U.S. 24-40 when his 1995 Ford F-250 crossed the center line and struck Jones’ 2006 Ford F-150, which was headed south, according to Leavenworth County Sheriff’s reports.

Jones and Lane were taken by Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service to Kansas University Hospital. A hospital official there said they were listed in fair condition.

It was unknown whether alcohol or drug impairment contributed to the crash. There was a dense fog limiting visibility to about 100 feet at the time of the wreck, according to reports.

Another accident occurred near the accident scene as local law enforcement and fire department officials were working at the scene.

Jacolin K. Miller, 52, Lawrence, was driving a Chevy S-10 at about 7:30 a.m. north on U.S. 24-40 near Honey Creek Road when her vehicle struck a Tonganoxie Township Fire Department 1997 GMC brush truck. The vehicle’s emergency lights were activated and no one was in the vehicle as firefighters were in the road with flashlights and red cones attempting to slow down traffic and divert traffic onto Honey Creek Road.

Miller told officers she was driving the speed limit and suddenly saw the truck. She slammed on the brakes, but her vehicle slid into the truck, according to reports. She also was taken by Leavenworth County EMS to KU Hospital. An official there said she was not listed as a patient Tuesday.

According to reports, there was no evidence of Miller being impaired.
