Leavenworth County’s population grew about 2.5 percent from 2010 to 2013 and all its incorporated cities increased or maintained population, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau estimations.
The recently released results are estimates as of July 2013.
Leavenworth County has an estimated 78,185 residents, up about 1,900 from the 2010 Census.
Tonganoxie increased to 5,165 from 2010, a jump of about 170 people, or 3.3 percent.
Basehor showed the highest jump in the county with a 6.6 percent increase. Basehor’s 2013 estimate is 4,898, up 285 from 2010.
Like Tonganoxie, Lansing is up about 3.3 percent or 377 people (11,642). Leavenworth jumped 1.8 percent or 1,908 people (35,891).
Linwood (375) and Easton (253) were unchanged.
Other counties in the metro area followed suit as Johnson, Wyandotte and Douglas all saw increases.
Johnson County had the highest jump with 4.2 percent to more than 566,900. It was an increase of about 22,750 people.
Wyandotte County increased 1.8 percent to roughly 160,384 and Douglas County 3.2 percent to about 114,320.
Jefferson County, meanwhile, saw a slight population decrease. Countywide population dropped 1.7 percent or 310.
McLouth’s latest population (858) was a drop of 22, while Oskaloosa decreased by 29 (1,084). Both were about 2.5-percent drops.
