Earlier this month, she returned to this side of the state and her home county. She’s the new agriculture agent for Kansas State University Research and Extension for Leavenworth County.

“We were in a bubble,” Lohman said. “Mountain (time) was all around us.”

Lohman started at the St. Francis Farm Cooperative in July 1997. She returns to Leavenworth County, where she worked 26 years for the Leavenworth Co-Op.

“Agriculture is my passion,” Lohman said.

A 1980 Kansas State University graduate, Lohman earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and industry.

She said she’s excited to work with her alma mater in the extension department and educate residents about what the local extension agency does.

Lohman said she’s received several questions from the public about tree care. She’s also been involved in some 4-H and soil conservation activities.

She spent her first day on the job in Manhattan taking care of orientation items and has stayed busy with extension responsibiliites since then.

Lohman said she’s looking forward to helping educate folks about agriculture, but also assisting 4-H agent Brenda Taxeras with some responsibilities in that area.

And, of course, she’s happy to be closer to family. Sons Tyler and Trey, both Tonganoxie High School graduates, work on the family farm.
