National Agriculture Center temporarily closing in Bonner Springs

By The Associated Press - | May 14, 2014

? The National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs says it’s closing for the rest of the year.

Board chairman Jody Albers says in a news release the time is right to rethink the center’s future.

The Agriculture Center in western Wyandotte County describes it mission as educating the public on the historical and present value of American agriculture. It also provides education, information, experience and recognition in the field of agriculture.

Albers says without continued private funding, the center’s board had to make a tough decision. He says the center will be completely reimagined in the months ahead.

The group’s news release says it plans to rent out its facilities and grounds. Temporary volunteer or part-time staff will be available for scheduled events.
