The team placed 13th out of 17 teams. Matt Scharff led THS golfers with an 80, while Ben Lanza shot a 99, Dawson Jones a 101 and Noah Arthoad a 103. Heath Martin finished with a 113.

“The boys played OK,” Sandburg said following the event. “For many this was their first tourney. Hopefully the score will continue to drop as they continue to play and practice.”

Tonganoxie continued the season April 13 with the Lansing Invitational at the Leavenworth County Club. THS finished seventh out of eight teams but its team score improved.

The Chieftains shot a 376 with Scharff again leading the team with the low score. He shot an 86, while Lanza came in with a 91 and Arthoad a 99.

Martin scored 100 and Gage Hendrix a 106. Jones shot a 111.

“We want to keep working hard and improving our score tourney to tourney,” Sandburg said. “Our goal is to peak by regionals.”­
