Tonganoxie FFA members participate in state convention
Tonganoxie FFA members participated in the state convention earlier in the summer in Manhattan.
Students were at McCain Auditorium on the Kansas State University campus. Tonganoxie FFA had three students, Zach Callahan, Sierra Graham and Justin Patrick win the state FFA degree.
Patrick joined Alan Hinds in competing in this year’s extemporaneous career development event after qualifying at districts. The two placed first and second in the district competition.
In total, 11 students from Tonganoxie attended the convention. Savanah Reynolds, Rebecka Martin, Devan Graham, Lane Hecht, Kain Baity, Tanner Walden, Trevor Burns joined Callahan, Graham, Patrick, Hinds and FFA adviser Randy Kraft at the convention.
The chapter received the silver in National Chapter Student Development, silver in National Chapter Chapter Development and silver in National Chapter Community Development.
FFA started in 1928 when 33 students from 18 states gathered in Kansas City, Mo., to form the Future Farmers of America. The organization now just goes by FFA.
