Face to Face: Tonganoxie Public Library’s Bethany Daye
Name: Bethany Daye
Born: Daye was born June 22, 1996, in Phoenix, June 22.
Occupation: Library aide.
Family: Parents, Tim and Michelle Daye, Tonganoxie; two older sisters, Ashley Sullivan, South Carolina, Haley Daye, Tonganoxie; younger brother, Noah, just graduated high school; nephew, Henry; a cat, Mooch, two Guinea pigs, Chloe and Rosie; and four dogs, St. Bernise sisters Mabel and Piper, Tiffie, a westie, and Lucy, a poodle mix.
Dream job as a child: Egyptologist. Daye wanted to study ancient Egypt and archeology that specifically studies Egypt and all its history.
Interesting fact: Daye likes to train dogs in her spare time. She qualified for state in 4-H for showmanship twice and dog obedience once.
“I love my dogs,” she said.
Digging deeper: Daye lived in Pheonix until she was about 10 years old. Her father is a contract worker, so the family moved around a lot.
They then went to Orem, Utah, just outside Salt Lake City. The family then moved to Tonganoxie when Daye was 11.
She was homeschooled from kindergarten through 12th grade and competed in speech and debate with her homeschool group, going to a few tournaments in high school.
Daye has worked at Tonganoxie Public Library the last two years and will be going to Johnson County Community College next month. She then hopes to attend Cleveland University in Overland Park and earn a bachelor’s in biology and then a master’s in nutrition.
She wants to advise people on eating and how they can heal themselves.
“I believe our bodies have the ability to heal itself,” Daye said. “We just don’t give it the right nutrients and building blocks to process what it can do.”
In her spare time, aside from working with dogs, Daye likes to study various topics.
“I like watching lectures on Youtube and history is till my passion. even though I didn’t go into it as a career.” Daye said. “I still love learning about history.:
