Tonganoxie Public Library, 217 E. Fourth St.Mini golf Thursday
The final Farmers Market happens Thursday night, and the library is offering a little entertainment for families while they shop this week.
In partnership with the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission, the library will offer a miniature golf experience. It’s open to all ages and starts at 5 p.m.
Play will be available until the sun goes down, and it begins to get dark.
Outdoor family movie night on Friday
Crisp fall weather, snacks to munch on, and a family-friendly (and funny!) movie for the Halloween season.
What a way to spend a Friday evening in October! Join us at 7 p.m. Friday when we show the first “Hotel Transylvania” on our outdoor big screen at the library.
Food program next week
K-State Research and Extension will visit the library next week for its Knowledge at Noon.
The event will be noon Tuesday. Knowledge at Noon is a food program that includes demo, food samples and recipes to take home. This month the topic is fall spices. Spice up your autumn while also learning the various health benefits of these warming spices.
New monthly crafting club for tweens
Youth ages 9-12 are getting their very own crafting club on the second Tuesday of the month. The first meeting, at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, will give participants a chance to make a really cool haunted house out of cardboard that can be lit up. Program leader Ms. Bobbie will guide youths on the project but then they will have the freedom to create as they desire.
Register to save a spot by calling the library at 913-845-3281. Space is limited!
Book Exchange next weekend
We’re hosting our very first Book Exchange soon!
The event will be 11 a.m. Oct. 18. You’ll be able to trade out your books for a new favorite read. If at all possible, books should be dropped off any time the library is open on Oct. 17. This will help us organize as many of the books as we can. This is just for adult books, so no children’s books. Only those books classified as adult or young adult will be traded.
Books also need to have been published within the last five years (2020-25) and need to be in very good condition. No damage, staining, etc.
However many books you bring, you can take that many home! You do have to bring books to take books. If you have any questions about the exchange, email Kim at kimd@tonganoxielibrary.org.
— Kim Downing is assistant director/circulation coordinator at Tonganoxie Public Library. She can be reached at kimd@tonganoxielibrary.org or 913-845-3281.
