Library Corner: Lego program; Interactive movie experience; Special bingos; Bird programs being offered
New Lego program for children
A new Lego Club is starting up this month.
The club gets started with its first session at 4 p.m. today at the library.
It’s geared for all ages of youths 6 years and older. The library will be supplying everything necessary, so there’s no need to bring your own Legos. The group also will meet at 4 p.m. Nov. 25. Instead, only a creative imagination is needed! Registration is required, and those interested should call the library at 913-845-3281 to sign up.
Interactive movie experience coming up
See where it all began for Harry — Harry Potter that is.
The library will be hosting a special interactive movie experience with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” at 5 p.m. Friday. Youths who are middle school or high school age can attend and find themselves immersed in the action of the film all the while enjoying pizza. No registration is required . It’s Harry Potter like you haven’t experienced before!
Special bingos for seniors, youths
The library offers Bingo twice a month at 1 p.m. on Mondays, but starting this month, we’ll have a special Bingo reserved for adults 55 years and older on the 3rd Monday. The first Monday will remain for all ages. As always, bingo is free to attend, and we’ll have lots of prizes to be won.
This month also brings two special days of Bingo just for the youths.
On Monday and again on Jan. 30, youths of all ages can come play Bingo starting at 3:30 p.m. Snacks and prizes will be provided for everyone participating. No registration is required.
Bird programs to be offered this month
This month is all about birds! At 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26, at 6:30 we’ll be making do-it yourself birdseed wreaths that can be hung for the birds to eat. Participants might get a little messy, but the birds in their yards will appreciate the efforts.
The program is free to attend and all supplies are provided, but registration is required by calling the library at 913-845-3281.
Then, at noon Jan. 28, Dr. Roger L. Boyd will tell us how to attract more birds to our yards. Learn about landscaping plants and other features, the best ways to feed birds, and what are the commonly sighted birds in our area. Boyd is emeritus professor of biology at Baker University where he taught for 42 years.
