Library Corner: Pie contest fundraiser is Thursday; Tongie Rocks meetings to start
Pie contest fundraiser is this week
The library is having a pie contest on Thursday.
This is an opportunity to test your baking skills and earn bragging rights for the year. We will have two categories: fruit pies and nut pies. Each baker will bake two pies for the contest with a panel of judges picking first through third placements in each category as well as an overall Grand Champion.
After judging, pie slices will be available for sale at $2 per slice with funds going toward the library’s Chieftain Cafe.
Pick up an entry form and contest rules at the library’s front desk.
Tongie Rocks meetings starting at library
The community based Tongie Rocks group will begin having a monthly meet-up at the library on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
The group paints rocks and then places them around Tonganoxie for others to find. The goal is to spread a little joy and happiness! The group meets from 6-7:30 p.m. on those evenings and is open to all ages.
The library is providing paint and brushes, but participants will need to bring their own rocks for painting. To see more about what the group does, check out their Facebook group TongieROCKS.
