Sunflowers are starting to pop at Grinter Farms. The field should soon be in prime condition for photos, though the Grinter family warns that recent rains have caused parking areas to still be soggy.

Let the photo-capturing commence.

Sunflowers are getting ready to pop at Grinter Farms, which means visitors will be venturing out by the droves to take photos with the natural sea-of-yellow backdrop.

According to the Grinter Farms Facebook page Tuesday, they still have “a good week” before all sunflowers will have popped to reveal their yellow and black blooms, so visitors might find peak picture time after Labor Day and this holiday weekend.

The farm is at 24050 Stillwell Road off U.S. Highway 24-40 a few miles south of Tonganoxie.

In addition, Grinter Farms’ Sunflower General store opened for the season Saturday. It will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through the weekend of Sept. 14. Cinnamon rolls, soaps, all things sunflowers and more are available at the store, 14755 243rd St.
